Tong Mei, LAc, OM
Tong Mei has over twenty years of experience in acupuncture and herbal therapy. A native of China, Tong received her medical degrees and clinical training from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree, first in her class. She was a clinical instructor, went on to complete a Master’s degree in acupuncture, and became a professor at her alma mater – teaching for more than ten years. In addition to her roles as professor at Shandong, Tong was an attending physician holding the position of consultant for sixteen years at the university’s affiliated hospital, where she specialized in neurology.
With her extensive training and years of experience in both Western and Oriental Medicine, Tong now brings her skills and expertise to Rochester Clinic. She holds an LAc (Licensed Acupuncturist) designation from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, and is board-certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Tong firmly believes that every patient should get personalized care, and tailors her treatment of each individual based on his or her health history, the characteristics of his or her condition or ailment, and even geographical history and time of year. She can integrate both Western and Oriental techniques, and will work with other providers to give patients the most comprehensive care possible.
